The first named storm of the year has hit the UK this weekend, and the sudden increase in rain means a drastic DEcrease in golf. Or does it?

Because if you do a bit of digging online, you may be lucky enough to discover you live close to an indoor golf bar, like The Green in Manchester, which offers drinkers the chance to play on all the world’s best golf courses… from the luxury of the bar!

What is indoor golf? Well, it’s about as close to the real thing as you can get. For one thing, you use real clubs, and even real balls. You get all the satisfaction of a well-placed shot, and don’t miss out on any of the bragging rights.

Using the latest video game technology, you can play where the pros play without ever having to leave the comfort of the room – or your drink. And what’s more, there are over 50 courses to choose from, so it’s perfect if you’ve been getting bored of your local ones.

It brings a whole new meaning to the idea of “pub golf”, doesn’t it?

And let’s face it, how many of us have missed out on a game or two this year and used the weather as an excuse? I know I have. When you live in England, your desire to play always goes up against the weather. It’s all too changeable.

So what are you waiting for? I know I’m going to use it as a good excuse to STOP the bad excuses, and get out there to play. Who knows, maybe a drink or two will improve my aim…
